How George Changed His Routine For The Better
George was a man who stuck to a routine. He was a little obsessive about it, in fact. If he didn’t stick with it, it felt like something was wrong with his day. The first thing he did every morning was apply nioxin intensive therapy recharging complex. He loved how it felt, so he didn’t have a problem with that. The thing that was a problem was that it was just another part of his routine.
Life just started to get flat for George. At first, he couldn’t figure out what was wrong. For awhile, he got even more obsessive about his routine, thinking that would fix things. It didn’t though. Then one beautiful Saturday morning, it hit him. This is what happened.
On this particular morning, he started the day as usual. After showering and applying his cream, he went and made his usual breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast and OJ. This time, the meal he usually enjoyed so much tasted more like cardboard than food to him. It was a little distressing, but he just wrote it off and went about his usual routine. As he did every morning, he brushed his teeth immediately after breakfast.
After that, he got dressed. He had his usual Saturday morning clothes all laid out and ready. His crisply ironed pants and shirt were in their exact usual location on his bed. He put them on – first the shirt and then the pants. Then he put on his brown socks and picked up his right brown boot – the one he always put on first.
Just as he was about to slip the boot on, he changed his mind. He thought, ‘I’m going to do something different this morning.’ He picked up his left boot and laced that one up first. He felt as if a cool mountain breeze had just passed through the room. That small change opened his mind to a world of possibilities.
Part of George’s regular Saturday routine included going to the same diner and ordering the same large meal for lunch. Since he wasn’t a very active man, this part of his routine had made him put on some extra pounds. George decided to do something about it at last. Instead of going to the diner, he went for a nice walk instead and vowed to stick to it as part of a weight loss regimen.
George continues to be a creature of routine, but now his routine is so much healthier than it was before. As an added bonus, he eats a health food lunch every Saturday morning with his new girlfriend, instead of alone at a diner!
